There is one good thing Jason's father gave to him- looks.
With chocolate brown eyes and dark down locks, Jason is like a 5'10"
foot teddy bear. Yes, he is a tall person. 5'10" feet exactly, but
that doesn't stop him from being called a cutie by most girls. Jason
grew up tall, being a basketball player and all. Even though as a
child he was exposed to drugs and alchohol, Jason drank plenty of milk
and ate plenty of chicken and salad. With his tallness also comes
plenty of muscle. When you're working out all day, trying to forget
your past, you do get pretty muscular.
Jason, to most people, has the perfect face and build. But, he is
ready to deny that. After all of the worry from his father, Jason
looks more like he's a thirty year old than a twenty-seven year old. He
has wrinkles on his forehead and almost always has dark circles under
his eyes. Most people often mistake him for a drunk because of his sad
condition- but it's because of many sleepless nights and the
medication he is on. But, besides that, Jason tries to look as happy
and bright and shining as possible. He has to set an example for his son, you know.
But, besides all of the physical things that make Jason up, the most
promiment feature is his eyes. His eyes may be a chocolate brown and
soft color, but they are not soft by means of what he has witnessed
throughout the years. Even though his eyes tell a story, Jason often
tries to tell a different one and fails quite a bit. No matter what
Jason's story is, though, he finds a way to fool many people with his
smile. For some people, hiding behind a smile is the easiest thing.

personality;
If there's one thing that Jason is, it is protective.
Yes, that does seem a little cliche, but it's all that Jason was built
on. All his life, he was pressed to be better than everyone else but
he turned out to want to protect everyone else. [So much for that...]
His friends know him to be bipolar- one minute he's as sweet as candy
and the next will snap at you like a turtle. There is one thing that
people can always be sure of, though. Jason Halloway is no bad man. He
is called a protector because he cares about other people- whether he
knows them well or not. Sure, he comes off as a cold and dark person
but Jason is one of the most comforting and caring men that you will
ever meet.
One thing you could call Jason is funny. He loves to make people laugh
and see their reactions to his jokes. It makes him feel so much joy
when he makes someone laugh- it spreads happiness through him for some
reason. But, he never seems to return the favor by smiling at other
people. That's what makes him a bit of a hermit, you could say. Some
people call him shy, but that doesn't make him a definite wallflower.
No. What is also a part of the matter is what medication he is on at
the time- he could be a wallflower or a social butterfuly depending on
his treatment.
Besides being incredible caring, Jason does have some familial issues
that hold him back from being superman. There is something that Jason
does not have and that is self-confidence. No matter how many pretty
ladies he meets, and no matter how many baskets he scores, Jason just
can't find confidence and happiness in himself. That is his only
problem with being a firefighter. He does not have the confidence
enough that he will save people. No, that would have to be drive.
on the inside...
fears;
For a person like Jason, there are a few fears that occupy his check-list. For one, is losing a family member. He might not have had the best family life, but if Jason ever lost a son or a daughter or even his significant other, he would feel that it would be hard to live. His second biggest fear is losing. Yes, that could be counted as an idiotic fear but he grew up trying to be the best and losing would
make him feel like a complete and total failure. His third biggest
fear? Finding another person like his father. If that ever happened,
poor Jason would be scared out of his mind.
aspirations;
Jason wants the best for his family, no matter what. He wants to be able to build the perfect life for his son. Trying to steer clear from what his father made him. Jason also wants to get closer to Ashely, even though they are closer than ever now.

history; At first glance, when Jason was merely a baby, the Halloway
family seemed perfect. A healthy and beautiful baby boy, a successful
man and an utterly gorgeous woman. Jason's father tried to make him
perfect from birth, pushing him to be the best. Him as a toddler,
although young, felt like he had to be the best because of his father.
Always the first to finish in pre-school, first to climb the monkey
bars and first to go down the slide. He began to strive from adventure
and loved every minute of suspense that came with it. His parents were
extremely proud of him, but most of all, Jason felt proud of himself.
By the time Jason was about 11, his dad began getting extremely
stressed from work. His father, Evan, barely got any sleep and was
popping pills faster than a druggie. Evan soon got very overwhelmed
and stopped spending time with Jason. The 11 year old got into
basketball and began to practice instead of spending time with his
dad- although it didn't cover up his lonliness. His mother,
Evangeline, noticed and tried to spend time with her son. When Evan
realized what was happening, he was angry that he couldn't be there
and turned to...alchohol.
One night, Evan came home completely drunk to his sixteen year old son
watching TV with Evangeline. Evan stood in the doorway and frowned at
the site. He went over to Jason, pulled him up and slapped him across
the face. "That's my wife", his dad had told him and pushed him to the
floor. Evangeline rushed to her son's side, but Evan held her back.
"You're mine." She tried to push him away, but he wouldn't budge.
Jason wiped the blood away from his mouth and gave him mom a sad look
before beginning to walk away.
Over the next few years, this kept going on. Even when Jason was a
senior in his high school, his dad would still slap him across the
room if he was drunk enough. One night, Jason decided that it was
enough. When his dad came home wasted, Jason told him off. When his
dad reached out to hurt him, the teenage boy pushed his father away.
His father was so outraged that he turned to Evangeline and shoved her
to the ground. He took out a gun and unknowningly shot Jason's mom.
With that, Jason was scarred for life.
Jason moved on and went to a new town to go to college. It was
somewhere in New Jersey. He got a degree in business, with college
basketball on the side. But, for some reason, Jason knew that he
wasn't meant for business. After graduating, he drifted away from New
Jersey and found himself in Brookeside, Texas as a firefighter. There, was where he met the love of his life; Ashely. She was working at a cafe` called the Pierside. They met there are were inseperable.
Soon after they became serious, Jason decided that she was the one and propsed. Ashely eagerly accepted and they were wed a couple months later. It was soon after that Ashely found out that she was pregnant. Overjoyed, Jason followed Ashely quickly through the pregnancy. It was a boy named Ryan. He had beautiful blue eyes, like his dad, and Jason felt like he was whole again.
When Ryan was about three, the Halloways moved out to Hawaii. Ashely found a new cafe` and Jason became a firefighter again.
Now, Ryan is four, and Ashely is pregnant again. So far, Jason's fairytale life is happening. Now, the question is, will he spoil it?

It was cold outside, one of the types of weather that poor Jason hated
the most. Thinking of the cold reminded him too much of the feelings
he had endured and so he tried to stay inside as much as possible.
But, since his job fighting fire was not limited to the inside of warm
buildings [unless you count buildings on fire..], he had a pretty hard
time avoiding the bitter cold.
Walking out of his apartment was probably the hardest thing. With his
warm coat on, Jason began to walk through the streets with a sigh.
Sure, he could have stayed home and just ordered in. But, for one, his
electrical bill had not been payed [oops] and his fridge was empty.
That left one option: finding a cafe`. Now, the brunette boy already
had a place to eat in mind. One of his work buddies had explained to
him about an awesome cafe` called the Pierside. Having an interest in
the sea did help him consider going to the place even more.
So, here he was, walking down the streets and attempting to locate
this awesome cafe`. He remembered his friend talking about a girl with
a hidden talent who owned it. A girl? Hidden talent? Now, that was
what made Jason make the final decision. No, he wasn't going to act
like some jerk and be all 'I fight fire, baby'. No. Jason was not one
of those guys, very thankfully. He would instead plan to just talk to
her like she was just a normal person. Easy, right? Not exactly.
Problems of his shyness in elementary school resurfaced in his mind,
and he wasn't about to go back to that.
Crossing one if the last streets before reaching the cafe`, Jason
began to think about this girl. Sure, he had never met her. But, that
didn't mean that he couldn't visualize. Maybe she would be a hot,
tall, blonde, skinny girl. Or maybe not. What if she wasn't even
pretty at all? Jason shuddered at that thought, but decided not to let
it get to him. So what? He was going there to eat in the first place-
not flirt. The poor boy was hungry, but not just for food. He wanted
someone that he could share the food with. Almost petrified as he was
about to each the entrance, Jason reminded himself that he didn't
care. But, some part of him wouldn't let him believe it.
He pulled open the door of the cafe` to see a bunch of people crowding
around a piano. He hung his coat onto a rack and gave the crowd of
people a questioning look. Weren't there any waiters or waitresses to
give him a table? Jason walked over to the crowd to see what they were
looking at. It was a girl- a very pretty one in fact. He frowned at
himself, and secretly shunned himself for thinking that she might be
ugly. Um, no. He listened to her play and was almost entranced. Her
keyboard playing and voice was beautiful.
Gathering the courage, Jason smiled at her. "Um, don't mean to
interrupt, but I need a table..."
